Section 125 Cafeteria Plan

Colquitt County Schools maintains a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan that allows eligible employees to pay your share of medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums, as well as make contributions to a Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), on a pre-tax basis through payroll deduction. Participation reduces taxable income for federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare purposes, subject to applicable IRS limits and regulations. Elections are generally made during the annual open enrollment period or following a qualifying life event and remain in effect for the full plan year unless a permitted change occurs. The plan is administered in accordance with Internal Revenue Code §125 and related Treasury regulations and is intended to provide employees with a tax-advantaged way to manage eligible health care and dependent care expenses.
